Hey there!

I know it's been a hot minute since I've posted anything new on here, but what's new? Now that I'm in college I'm trying to be more active in posting my art on social media, but it takes a lot out of me, especially on platforms I'm unfamiliar with (I'm looking at you, Twitter), but I want to be better at it. One of the biggest things you can do in the art field as a professional, especially if you want to do freelance work, is to really promote yourself and your work. I've been stretched thin by my classes, and it's probably going to only get more stressful and intense from here on out, but I hope that I can make more time to keep up with posting new stuff for people to see.

I'm not typically shy about showing my work, but my classes have made me even more of a perfectionist than I was in high school, so I'm constantly raising my standards for myself, to the point that it feels like a lot of my work isn't really worthy of being shared online. You tend to see a lot of finished and highly detailed illustrations from artists on social media, and maybe think that you should be posting stuff like that, but there aren't any rules like that. I just have to remind myself that I like to see sketchy work from artists I admire, just as much as I enjoy their finished pieces, so it's okay for me to post something that I might deem "unfinished" or "too sloppy". The point of art is to create and to enjoy creating. Why would we do something that takes so much time and dedication if we didn't at least find a little joy in the process?

Anyway I'm about to upload a bunch of stuff I've worked on from some point in 2017 up to now, so I apologize in advance!

This is mostly just a quick update on what I've been doing so feel free to skim over the boring stuff.

I've been pretty busy keeping up with school so my art production has been slow apart from Art class related projects like my AP Concentrations, but I'm doing my best to submit something when I can. I suppose to stay active I might just start posting a bunch of doodle pages or something.

However! To get myself started in turning my art into a career for myself I've decided to start doing commissions!

I don't have a job yet (working on that) and so I have a super limited income for myself. Commissions is just one of the ways I want to work for some money. PLUS I'm making art in exchange! I'll draw almost anything, with some exceptions based on my skill level/ability in that area or if I'm just in general uncomfortable drawing something. I'll have more information on that later...

For now, here is a link to my art blog which should take you directly to my post about commissions:
starrdoodles.tumblr.com/post/1…

I'll see about compiling all the slides into a comic strip-like format and submit it when I have the time.

Also!
I've made a Redbubble account, but I don't have anything up yet. I'm a little nervous to get that started, and I don't have anything that really looks ready for prints and stuff. I was thinking of starting small, like stickers or something. I'll probably do a couple that are related to my concentration (I've got one for Pluto, but its hanging out as a WIP because my weekend was pretty booked). IDK, what do you guys think? I'll bring up a link for that once I have something on there.

That should just about wrap it up! I'll be working my butt off for a while haha

Toodles!

Hey everybody!

I'll try to keep this brief. It looks like I haven't done anything for like a year or so, but now I'm back for who knows how long??? So I'm going to spend some time cleaning up my DA since some of the stuff on here is really friggin' old. I've had this account for 5 years, wow!

That being said, I've come a long way with drawing. So, I'll be taking some time to upload more recent stuff once I get rid of some of the more horribly embarrassing pieces. I might keep a few, just to use as comparison for myself to help me realize how much progress I have made and how my style has changed over the years.

I'll update on more stuff later when I have the time, I have a lot of things to do this week, but I'm hoping I'll have enough time to get some important art business done.

Toodles!

Well hello there!

So I know I posted a Journal entry a while back about trying not to be so inactive.... whoops. I tried to throw some stuff up tonight before going to bed so I hope that makes up for some of my time not doing anything productive :D

I'm still working out the kinks in getting rolling with digital art, but based on the results I'm getting I just don't feel like my art is at the level where digital art or drawing programs is going to make it look any prettier or whatever. So for now I'm going to work on warm ups with my computer and whatever crummy drawing software I have and focus more on traditional drawing. Maybe at least until I have my own style down for a while, it seems to change on me often.

I'm thinking about doing commissions since I've only ever just taken requests and given people my work without charge. However I feel like now is a good time so that I can work on possibly having this change into a professional thing (and I need to start looking for a job bleh.). I already had a friend mention to me today making a comic or a graphic novel of some kind, so I guess that could be something for me to look into.

Also, I was introduced to the Wacom tablet website via ad XD. So now I'm desperately wishing for a gorgeous tablet without much delay and pressure recognition stuff and something where I can actually see where i am physically and digitally putting my pen. It seems great since I'm thinking my tablet really wasn't made for the whole art thing anyways (its actually my dad's, which he got so he could do businessy stuff with it).

But yeah for now I'll probably do commissions or something, so if you want me to draw something for you I'm sure we could work something out, just shoot me a message or something. I have a tumblr if you want to ask me about it there, stardustseraph.tumblr.com/ I'm more than likely to practice it a thousand times before I finally get something that will look great for you because I'm just that kind of person ^^

Well that's it for now, l8tr~

Oh Hi

1 min read
So I know that it's been a while since I actually did anything productive here... I'll try to get something uploaded this weekend since I have loads of work to show. Of course, it should be easy to look through my art and be able to see the progress I have made over the years, and my style keeps changing DX

Anyways, yeah I'll try not to be inactive as often (as if I haven't said that before HAHA).
